Sydney Opera House in White
materials: stoneware clay
glaze: satin white glaze
dimensions: 27(w) x 12(h) 16(d) cm (3 pieces arranged together)
This limited series of sculptures needs no introduction; the iconic form of the Sydney Opera House and its architectural confidence immediately evokes a sense of awe and reverence along the Sydney landscape. The Opera House has always been a part of my life, from early years of viewing performances, to studying the design and history in first year Architecture at university. This sculpture series focuses on the structure of the iconic ‘sails’ and their relationship between one another in terms of scale and arrangement. The aim is to also embrace the negative space between each sail, giving as much weight to the void between
one another as the pieces themselves.
